How to Promote OnlyFans on Twitter/X: What to Post and When

How to promote OnlyFans on X: your profile and pinned post, the mix of personal, teaser and promo posts, when to post, and mistakes that slow growth.

Twitter, now officially X, is the most open of the big social platforms for promoting an OnlyFans page. X allows adult content as long as you mark it as sensitive, and you can link straight to your page. So if you’re building a subscriber base from social media, X is usually the place to start.

This page covers the rest: setting up your profile, what to post and when, how to get seen by new people and the mistakes that slow you down.

Why X is the best platform for OnlyFans promotion

It comes down to what you’re allowed to do. On Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, you’re always working around content rules, and one flagged post can wipe out your reach overnight. X is far less restrictive.

On X you can post explicit previews, link to your OnlyFans, use adult language and build a public persona that matches what subscribers get on your page. There are still rules. Adult media has to be marked as sensitive in your settings, and it isn’t allowed in your profile photo or header image. Read X’s current adult content policy before you start.

X also has a large, established adult creator community. Fans there know how to find creators, understand how subscriptions work and expect to see promotion in their timelines. You aren’t sneaking past anyone’s rules.

Profile optimisation: the foundation

Your profile is your shop front. Visitors decide fast whether to follow you or keep scrolling, so every part of it needs to earn its place.

Profile photo

Use a clear photo that’s easy to recognise at a small size. Ideally, match your OnlyFans profile picture so people connect the two straight away. It has to be non-explicit.

Header image

This is the biggest image on your profile, and it’s easy to waste. Use it for a strong, non-explicit shot or a clear call to action. Think of it as a billboard.

Bio

X gives you 160 characters. Say what you offer, add a call to action and let some personality through. Something like “posting what Instagram won’t let me, sub for daily exclusives” is direct and does the job. Don’t clutter your bio with a wall of emojis.

Pinned post

This is the most important promo post you have, because new visitors see it before anything else on your timeline. Pin something that gives people a reason to click through: a teaser image, a short video preview or a post that’s already done well. Swap it for something new every so often.

Point it straight at your OnlyFans page. The fewer taps between X and your subscribe button, the better.

Content strategy: what to post and how often

The most common mistake on X is treating every post like an advert. If your timeline is nothing but links and “subscribe to see more”, people stop paying attention. Use it as a social platform first and a promo channel second.

The ideal content mix

Split your posts into three kinds. The percentages are a starting point, so adjust them once you see what your followers respond to.

  • Personality posts, about 50 to 60% of what you post. Your life, your opinions, your sense of humour, things that happened to you. These make people feel they know you, and a follower who feels that is more likely to click your promo posts than someone who sees a faceless account.
  • Teasers and previews, about 30 to 40%. Photos, short clips, behind-the-scenes shots or suggestive posts that give a taste of what subscribers get. Make people curious without giving everything away.
  • Direct promo posts, 10% or less. Posts that ask people to subscribe, with a link. Keep them rare enough that they stand out.

Posting frequency and timing

Two to five posts a day is a good range to start with. Much more can feel spammy, and less than one a day makes it easy for people to forget you.

Timing depends on where your fans are. UK followers tend to be online in the evenings, so try 7pm to 11pm. If a lot of your fans are in the US, their late morning to mid-afternoon on the East Coast is roughly 4pm to 9pm UK time. Posting across both windows covers more people.

Then check your own numbers. X analytics shows when your posts get seen, and your OnlyFans statements show when fans spend. Use those over any general advice, including this.

Using threads for storytelling

Threads are easy to overlook. A thread is just a chain of connected posts that tells a longer story or shares a set of content.

They keep people on your content for longer, and each post in the thread can pick up likes and reposts of its own. X wants people to stay on the platform, so it has every reason to show content that holds attention.

Thread ideas to try:

  • A “week in review” thread with previews of everything you posted
  • A story thread that builds curiosity about one piece of content
  • A thread of your favourite photos from a recent shoot
  • A “get to know me” thread mixing personal facts with teaser images

Finish every thread with a clear call to action and a link to your page.

Engagement tactics that build followers

Posting is half the job. The other half is talking to the people around you.

Quote posts

When you quote another creator’s post with a real comment or reaction, your profile shows up in front of their followers. It’s a quick way to get seen by people who already follow creator accounts.

Polls

Polls are easy to answer, so people often vote on them without much thought. Use them for light questions or to let fans pick what you post next.

Replies

Answer comments on your posts and like people’s replies. Being active in conversations gives X more reasons to show your posts to others.

When something’s trending that you have something real to say about, join in. A good reply can be seen by lots of people who’ve never heard of you.

Growing organically vs. paid promotion

You can grow on X without paying, but it takes time. Expect a few months of steady posting and engaging before you see real momentum. If you’re starting from zero, focus on:

  1. Posting every day
  2. Spending at least 30 minutes a day engaging with other creators and fans
  3. Doing shoutout swaps with creators around your size
  4. Using relevant hashtags (two to four per post is enough)
  5. Pinning your best-performing content

Paid promotion is mostly off the table. X’s ads policy doesn’t allow ads for adult sexual content, so you can’t simply pay to advertise an OnlyFans page there. If you’re thinking about ads for anything linked to your page, read the current policy first.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Posting links too often. If every post has a link, people stop clicking. Keep promo posts occasional and make everything else worth reading.
  • Not engaging. Posting and disappearing doesn’t work. If you never reply, never quote anyone and never join a conversation, your reach will suffer.
  • Ignoring analytics. X shows you which posts do well, when your followers are online and what gets the most engagement. Check it regularly and change what you do based on what you see.
  • Posting in bursts. Five posts a day for a week and then nothing for a fortnight loses the momentum you built, and it takes time to get back.
  • Buying followers. Fake followers don’t subscribe or engage, they make your account look suspicious, and buying them breaks X’s rules. There’s no shortcut.
  • Ignoring your DMs. Someone who messages you is already interested. Leave them unanswered and you may lose a subscriber.

Making X part of a broader strategy

X works well at the centre of a wider plan. TikTok and Instagram can help people discover you (within their stricter rules), Reddit reaches niche communities, and X is where you talk to fans and send them to your page.

If you’re on Reddit too, our Reddit promotion guide fits with what you’re doing on X. Before you send traffic anywhere, get your page ready with our tip menu builder and pricing calculator.

Running several platforms takes a lot of time. If you’d rather focus on content while someone else handles promotion and posting, that’s what a management agency does. To do it, the team needs access to your account. Before you sign with anyone, get in writing what the team can reach, what it never touches and how you remove its access. The account should stay in your name, payouts should go to your bank, and you should be able to end their access at any time. Look for an agency that invoices after you’ve been paid and works with no lock-in contracts. You can see how it works or apply directly if you want to talk about it.
