How OnlyFans Payouts Work: Minimums, Timing and Methods

How OnlyFans payouts work: the usual $20 minimum, a hold of about a week, withdrawal methods for UK creators, and why a payout gets stuck or bounces.

OnlyFans pays you by bank transfer once your earnings have cleared a holding period and your available balance is over the minimum withdrawal. The hold is usually about a week and the minimum is usually $20, but check the payout page in your dashboard for the figures on your account.

Getting paid is straightforward once you know how it works. New creators still get caught out by timing, minimums and which withdrawal methods they can use in their country, so each of those is explained below, along with what can go wrong and how to avoid delays.

The basics: how OnlyFans pays creators

When a fan pays you, whether through a subscription, a tip, a PPV message or anything else, OnlyFans takes its 20% platform fee straight away. The other 80% goes into your OnlyFans balance.

You can’t withdraw that balance straight away. OnlyFans holds earnings for a period before releasing them, mainly to cover chargebacks and refund requests. Once funds clear the hold, they move into your “available” balance and you can request a payout.

Minimum payout amounts

The minimum withdrawal is usually $20, or the equivalent in your local currency. You can’t request a payout until your available balance reaches it. OnlyFans can change this, so check the payout page in your dashboard.

If you’re an active creator, you’ll probably reach it quickly. If you’re just starting out with a small audience, your first payout might take a few days or weeks to become available. That’s normal and nothing to worry about.

Once funds have cleared, you can withdraw your whole available balance at once or leave some of it in your account.

The holding period explained

This is the part that confuses new creators most. OnlyFans usually holds earnings for about seven days before you can withdraw them. The exact timing can vary, and your dashboard shows when each amount becomes available.

Why hold the money at all? There are two main reasons.

The first is chargeback protection. Subscribers sometimes dispute a charge with their bank. If OnlyFans paid creators instantly and a chargeback came through days later, it would be out of pocket. The hold gives disputes time to surface before the money’s released.

The second is fraud prevention. Fraudulent payments can take a few days to be flagged, and the hold helps catch them before real money changes hands.

In practice, money you earn today won’t be ready to withdraw for roughly a week. Plan for that, especially in your first month, when you don’t yet have earlier payments clearing every day.

Available withdrawal methods

OnlyFans offers a few ways to get paid. Which ones you can use depends on your country and your account status.

Bank transfer (direct deposit)

This is the most common method for UK creators. You link your bank account, and payouts go straight into it. It usually takes a few business days after you request the withdrawal.

For UK bank accounts, Faster Payments can mean the money lands soon after it’s processed, but allow up to five working days before you chase it.

International bank transfer

If you’re outside the US or UK, you can use an international bank transfer, but it may take longer, often three to five business days. Currency conversion applies, and your bank may charge a fee for receiving an international transfer. Ask your bank about any inbound wire fees.

E-wallets

OnlyFans has supported e-wallets in the past, but availability depends on where you live and the options can change. Check your payout settings to see what’s available in your country.

What about PayPal?

OnlyFans doesn’t support PayPal withdrawals. It’s a common question, and the answer hasn’t changed in years. Bank transfer is the main way OnlyFans pays creators.

How to set up your payout information

Before you can withdraw anything, you need to finish your payout setup. That means:

  1. Verifying your identity. OnlyFans requires government-issued ID and a selfie. It’s a legal requirement, so there’s no skipping it.
  2. Adding your bank details. That’s your account number and sort code for a UK account, or the equivalent details for your country.
  3. Confirming your tax information. You’ll need to fill in a tax form (a W-9 if you’re a US creator) or give the relevant details for where you live. If you’re in the UK, our tax calculator gives you a clearer idea of what you’ll owe.

Do this as soon as you’ve created your account. If you wait until you’ve earned money to sort out your bank details, you’ll only delay your first payout.

Processing times: what to expect

A typical timeline from earning to getting paid looks like this, though your own dates may differ:

  1. Day 0: a subscriber pays. OnlyFans takes 20%, and the other 80% goes into your pending balance.
  2. Day 7 (roughly): the funds clear the hold and move to your available balance.
  3. Day 7: you request a payout, or your automatic payout kicks in.
  4. Day 8 to 10: the money arrives in your bank account (usually a few working days for UK bank accounts).

So from earning to your bank account, expect roughly eight to ten days in total. Once you’ve been active for a while, you’ll barely notice the wait, because new money is clearing every day.

Manual vs automatic payouts

There are two ways to get your money out:

Manual requests. You log in, check your available balance and request a withdrawal whenever you want one. You decide when and how much.

Automatic payouts. You set your available balance to be paid out on a schedule, without having to do anything. It’s handy once your earnings are regular and you just want the money to arrive.

With automatic payouts, you don’t have to remember to withdraw. The money turns up in your bank account on a predictable schedule.

Common payout issues and how to avoid them

Pending balance not clearing

If your balance seems stuck in “pending” for longer than you’d expect, the usual causes are:

  • A chargeback dispute being processed against recent earnings
  • Verification documents that need updating or have expired
  • A review of your account

Check your notifications and email for any messages from OnlyFans asking you to do something.

Payout rejected by bank

This happens more often than you’d think. Common reasons include:

  • Incorrect bank details. Double-check your account number and sort code. One wrong digit and the payment bounces.
  • A name mismatch. The name on your OnlyFans account must match the name on your bank account. If you use a stage name on OnlyFans, your legal name still needs to be on file for payouts.
  • Account restrictions. Some bank accounts can’t receive certain types of payment. If your bank rejects the deposit, contact them to find out why.

Delays around weekends and holidays

Payouts can be slower around weekends and bank holidays. If you request a withdrawal on a Friday evening, it may not start processing until Monday, and bank holidays add further delays. That’s down to how banking works, so it isn’t only an OnlyFans problem.

Currency conversion considerations

If you earn in dollars but your bank account is in pounds, the money’s converted when it’s transferred. You may not get the best exchange rate available, so conversion can cost you a little. That’s standard for international transfers.

Tax implications of your payouts

Every payout you receive is taxable income. In the UK, that means registering as self-employed with HMRC and filing a Self Assessment tax return. If you haven’t done that yet, read our guide on registering as self-employed for OnlyFans.

Keep a record of every payout. OnlyFans gives you earnings statements, but it’s good practice to keep your own records as well. Our tax calculator estimates what you’ll owe so you can plan for it.

Remember that OnlyFans doesn’t deduct tax from your payouts. You receive the full amount after its 20% fee, and it’s up to you to put money aside for your own tax bill.

Tips for managing your payout schedule

Set money aside for tax straight away. When a payout arrives, move a share of it into a separate savings account for your tax bill. Setting aside 25 to 30% of your net OnlyFans income for tax and National Insurance is a common rule of thumb for UK creators. The right amount depends on what you earn, so check your own figure with the tax calculator.

Track your earnings regularly. Use our earnings calculator to model your income in different scenarios and keep a clear picture of what’s coming in.

Don’t budget from a single month’s earnings. OnlyFans income can go up and down a lot from month to month. Budget from your average month instead of your best one.

Keep your bank details up to date. If you switch banks, update your OnlyFans payout details straight away. A bounced payout adds days of delay while it gets sorted out.

What happens if your account is restricted

If OnlyFans restricts your account for any reason, such as a content violation, failed verification or suspicious activity, your pending payouts may be held until the problem’s resolved. In serious cases, the money can be withheld permanently.

The best protection is simple. Follow the platform’s terms of service, keep your verification documents up to date, and reply quickly to any compliance requests.

Getting help with payout issues

If you’re having payout problems, you can reach OnlyFans support through the platform. Response times vary.

If you work with a management agency like TalentGrow, your payouts should still come to you. With us, the account stays in your name and payouts land in your own bank. The team works in your account through Infloww, a creator CRM, where it can see stats, make posts and send messages. It has no access to your bank details, payout information, email or social media accounts, and you keep full control and can end our access at any time by changing your password. Our share is worked out on what you actually receive, after OnlyFans’ 20% and after any refunds and chargebacks, and we invoice after you’ve been paid. It’s month to month with no lock-in and no exit fees, and either side gives 14 days’ notice. If you’d like help running the business side of your OnlyFans, see how it works or apply to work with us.

Knowing how payouts work takes away one of the biggest worries new creators have. Set up your bank details on day one, get to know the holding period, and plan your money around roughly eight to ten days from earning to bank. The rest is admin.
