OnlyFans Payouts Explained: Fees, Holds and Cash Flow

How an OnlyFans payout gets from a fan to your bank: the 20% fee, the pending balance and hold, payout methods, currency costs and planning your cash flow.

OnlyFans keeps 20% of every payment, holds the other 80% in a pending balance for a few days, and only then lets you withdraw it. After that, your bank or e-wallet takes its own time to process the transfer, so money a fan spends today won’t be in your account today.

Each stage of the OnlyFans payout process is simple on its own. Once you put them together, there’s a gap of days between a fan paying and you being able to spend it. Plan for that gap and it won’t catch you out.

How OnlyFans payments work

When a fan pays you, for a subscription, a tip, a pay-per-view message or anything else, the money doesn’t go straight to your bank. It goes into your pending balance on OnlyFans first.

The flow looks like this:

  1. A fan makes a payment.
  2. OnlyFans takes its platform fee (20% of the transaction).
  3. The other 80% goes into your pending balance.
  4. After the hold period, the money moves to your available balance.
  5. You request a withdrawal, or it goes out automatically, depending on your settings.
  6. The withdrawal is processed and sent to your payout method.

Each step takes its own time. That’s why there’s always a gap between earning money and receiving it.

The 20% platform fee

OnlyFans takes 20% of every transaction. You can’t negotiate it, and it applies to everything you earn: subscriptions, tips, PPV messages and custom content sales.

If a fan pays a £10 subscription, OnlyFans keeps £2 and £8 goes into your pending balance. If someone sends a £50 tip, £10 goes to OnlyFans and £40 comes to you.

The fee pays for payment processing, hosting and content delivery. OnlyFans doesn’t add separate payment processing fees on top.

Build the 20% into your prices from the start. Our pricing calculator takes the platform cut off for you, so you can see what you’d take home at different prices.

The pending balance and 7-day hold

Money you earn can’t be withdrawn straight away. It sits in your pending balance for a hold period first. The hold you’ll usually see quoted is 7 days, counted from each payment rather than from one weekly cutoff. OnlyFans sets it and can change it, so check the payout page in your dashboard for the figure on your account.

On a 7-day hold, a subscription paid on Monday can’t be withdrawn until the following Monday at the earliest. A tip that arrives on Wednesday clears the following Wednesday.

Why the hold exists

A hold gives OnlyFans time to deal with fan disputes and chargebacks before the money’s released. It also guards against fraud, and it leaves time for slower payment methods to clear. Don’t count on earning more, or being on the platform longer, to shorten it. Plan around it.

Minimum payout threshold

OnlyFans won’t pay out below a minimum amount. The figure usually quoted is $20, or the equivalent in your currency, but check the payout page in your dashboard for the current minimum. If your available balance is under it, you’ll have to wait until you’ve earned enough. On a new page that’s still finding its audience, that can make your first payout take a bit longer than you expected.

Payout methods

OnlyFans gives you a few ways to get your money. Which ones you can use depends on your country.

Bank transfer (direct deposit)

This is the usual choice. You add your bank details and OnlyFans sends withdrawals straight there. It typically takes 3 to 5 business days after you request the withdrawal.

For UK creators, that’s a transfer to a UK bank account in GBP. For US creators, it goes to a US bank account in USD.

E-wallets

OnlyFans supports some e-wallet services, depending on where you live. The list changes from time to time, so check your payout settings to see what’s available now. E-wallets are sometimes quicker than bank transfers.

International wire transfer

If you’re outside the main supported countries, you may be able to use an international wire transfer. These usually take longer, around 5 to 10 business days, and your receiving bank may charge a fee.

Manual vs automatic withdrawals

You can take out your available balance in one of two ways.

With manual withdrawals, you log in, check your available balance and request a withdrawal whenever you want one.

With automatic withdrawals, your available balance is sent to you on a regular schedule and you don’t have to ask.

Automatic withdrawals mean one less thing to remember once money comes in steadily. If you’re just starting out, manual withdrawals let you choose exactly when money moves.

International payment considerations

If you live outside the United States, there are a few more things to watch.

Currency conversion

OnlyFans processes most transactions in USD. If your bank account is in another currency, such as GBP, EUR or AUD, the payment has to be converted, and the exchange rate usually includes a small margin. Look at your statements to see what rate you’re getting.

Receiving bank fees

Some banks charge you to receive an international transfer. Ask yours whether any incoming transfer fees apply.

Tax withholding

OnlyFans asks creators outside the US to fill in a W-8BEN form. It confirms you’re not a US person for tax purposes, which affects whether any US tax is held back from your earnings. Fill it in when you set up your account, and check your payout settings if you’re not sure it’s done. Our tax tools explain what you might owe at home.

Payment delays

International transfers take longer than domestic ones. Allow 5 to 10 business days for them, where a domestic transfer usually takes 3 to 5.

Understanding your earnings statements

Your OnlyFans dashboard has earnings statements split by source: subscriptions, tips, messages and other income. Download them regularly. You’ll need them for your tax return, and they show you where your money’s really coming from. Our earnings calculator projects your income from your subscriber count and prices.

Tips for managing your cash flow

Plan around the hold from day one

Don’t treat your pending balance as money you can spend now. Base your spending on the dates you can withdraw.

Set aside money for tax

In the UK, you pay your own Income Tax and National Insurance. A common rough rule is to move 25 to 30% of your net earnings into a separate account for tax. Our tax calculator will give you a closer estimate based on your own profits.

Check your income every week

OnlyFans payments come in all the time. There’s no single monthly pay cheque. A few minutes on your dashboard each week shows you how your income’s moving, and you’ll have a better idea of your tax bill before it arrives.

Keep creator income in its own bank account

Mixing personal and business money makes bookkeeping harder and your tax return messier. Open a separate account whose terms allow you to receive business income, and keep creator money in it.

Build a buffer

There’ll always be a delay between earning and receiving. A small cushion of savings covers you while you wait.

Know your revenue mix

Subscriptions bring in steady, recurring money. Tips and PPV are harder to predict, but they can add up to a lot. If most of your income comes from one-off tips, expect your cash flow to swing more than it would on a page that earns mainly from subscriptions. Our tip menu guide covers how to set up tips so they come in more steadily.

Common payout questions

Can I get paid daily? You can request a withdrawal every day, as long as your available balance meets the minimum. Each withdrawal still has to be processed, which usually takes 3 to 5 business days for a bank transfer.

What happens if a fan charges back? OnlyFans takes the amount back out of your balance. You can’t rule chargebacks out, so don’t spend money the moment it clears.

Do I pay fees on withdrawals? OnlyFans doesn’t charge a separate withdrawal fee. The 20% platform fee is the only thing it takes. Your bank may charge its own fee for receiving the transfer.

Can I change my payout method? Yes. You can update your payout details in your account settings at any time. When you add a new bank account, there may be a short wait while it’s verified.

How long it takes from a fan’s payment to your bank

Put the hold and the processing time together and you can expect roughly 10 to 14 days between a fan paying and the money reaching your bank, if your account is on the usual 7-day hold. Add any wait to reach the minimum payout on top. The payout page in your dashboard shows the figures that apply to you.

Plan for that gap, check your earnings every week, and put money aside for tax from the start. Our earnings calculator and pricing calculator are there for projections and planning.
